We asked Patrik about his personal dream car
Swissvax : "Patrik, thank you for letting us learn more about your personal "Care for your Dream" story. How long have you had your Porsche?"
Patrik : Since summer 2020. After quite a long search, I found the car near Stuttgart and took it with me straight away.
Swissvax : "Why did you choose a 1980 Porsche 911?"
Patrik : Porsche has fascinated me for a long time – as I suspect many others have. A long-time friend in Switzerland bought a 1974 Porsche a few years ago, and that's when I started thinking about it again.
Swissvax : "So this car has been your dream for a long time?"
Patrik : Yes. A few years ago there was a series called "Californication" with David Duchovny in the lead role. It was a great series, we watched it all the time and the main character Hank Moody had a black Porsche from the 80s. The lifestyle, the way he handled the car and simply lived, enjoyed and needed it - that really excited me.
Swissvax : "The colour is quite rare – most people want silver, white or black, why Oak Green?"
Patrik : Precisely because there aren't many of them. You don't configure a car yourself, you search on the Internet, read up on it, look at classic combinations of paint and leather. In an interview with Wolfgang Porsche, I once read that Ferry Porsche preferred to drive his cars in shades of green like Oak Green and Brewster Green. And his son Wolfgang Porsche still does this today. I found that exciting, it excited me and inspired me to look out for shades of green too.
Swissvax : "What does 'Care for your Dream' mean to you?"
Patrik : My "dream car" has kept me busy for years, decades actually. I rediscovered the fascination in the Californication series. But my relationship with the car began long before that. In 2020 I finally had the opportunity to make this dream come true. I enjoy the lifestyle, the relaxedness and the purity that the car has almost every day, and not just on the road but also when it comes to car maintenance. This also means that I only wash my personal dream car by hand. It's a new way of getting to know the car every time. By polishing, waxing and sealing by hand, I always discover new things about my car. I understand it better and also understand its history. A relationship develops.
Swissvax : "That's what we hear again and again: build a relationship with the car."
Patrik : Yes, that's important to me. Sometimes there are three of us driving, my son in the front and my wife in the back. It's fun, the car is part of it and brings new experiences and ideas. We drive to places we would never go. Sometimes I just drive along the Ku'Damm in Berlin on a Sunday morning or out to the Baltic Sea. Would I do that with my "normal" family car? - Probably not. So it's logical for me to treat the car differently and take my time - those are great moments.
Swissvax : “Why did you choose Swissvax products?”
Patrik : I spent ages thinking about how to clean, polish and wax the car. A recommendation from friends and my own research on the internet led me to Swissvax. For me, the brand represents the highest quality care products. It takes a little more time to use, but it's also really fun. The result is incredible every time - I absolutely love the effect that I can achieve myself with a little Lotos Speed and a fluffy cloth. The shine is perfect.
